Two pairs of “Lovö” easy chairs by Axel Einar Hjorth, executed in solid pine and defined by a robust, deliberately rustic character. The expressive construction is complemented by wrought-iron details integrated into the backrests.

Priced per pair, the chairs are in good condition with no structural damages. Some wear due to use and time. ready to being used, we can provide cushions. Stained pine. Dimensions 20"(W) x18.9" (D) x 31" (H)

The “Lovö” model belongs to NK’s celebrated Sporstugemöbler (sports cabin furniture) series, designed by Hjorth in the 1930s. The collection responded to a contemporary cultural shift toward health, outdoor life, and physical activity, coinciding with the introduction of statutory vacation rights in Sweden. As leisure time increased, so did the demand for well-designed furnishings suited to newly built summer houses and cabins. For this context, NK presented Hjorth’s furniture as an exemplary synthesis of craftsmanship and modern design.

The series takes its names from islands in the Stockholm archipelago and small Swedish towns. Most pieces were produced in pine, chosen for its tactile and vernacular qualities, while select, more exclusive variants were executed in solid oak. Characteristic of the series are its assured modernist proportions, informed by traditional building practices, and a frank articulation of structure in which construction becomes an integral visual element.
