Comté was founded on 1932 as a company dedicated to the interior design and the production and sale of furniture and decorative objects. It was directed by Ignacio Pirovano, Jose E. Tivalo and Mariano mansilla Morena. They created and reproduced the most important furniture design for the most important residences, setting an innovative trend within argentinian “avant-garde”. The French designer with which Comté collaborated the most during 1932 until his death in 1941 was Jean Michel Frank. Comté imported numerous Frank designs and from his partner Adolphe Chenaux, for a variety of private customers and for the company artisans to reproduce these designs from 1932 to 1950, competing with the best french cabinetmakers.
