Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte Glass Flush Mounts, 1955
We have a pair available!
Very rare 36.6" semi glass flush-mount with deep incisions, original Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte, Milano circa 1955 -we now have an identical pair available, priced individually;
Early vintage original flush mount light by Max Ingrand. Iconic large fixture with deep sandblasted incisions leaving smaller archipelagos from clear glass, that have later been polished. It's a very delicate piece with outstanding glass work. The metal funnel has its preserved original lacquer from the 1950's. Six large e26/27 bulbs are illuminating a sandblasted large 36" glass disc-diffuser first, so the bulbs are not visible from underneath the light. It's in very good condition considering an age of 65 years. The glass shows no chips or cracks. The original lacquered aluminum parts we left untouched. It shows smaller sections of color-loss. The brass shows an even and golden patina.
Provenance: the lamp derives from an estate in Milan, the other one from Zurich.
Dimensions are 36.6“ (diameter) x 11.8“ (height )- both lights have the same measurements. However, both are handmade and hence slightly different in detail. The stencil used for the incisions are identical thus the lights look the same.
Max Ingrand, director at Fontana arte between 1954-1964 was the man of the impossible details in glass design. He followed on Pietro Chiesa; both were responsible for some of the most iconic furniture for Fontana Arte, Milan.
