Pietro Chiesa Floral Chandelier, 1950
Etched Floral Details, Italy
Unique 28" wide midcentury glass chandelier with floral details, attr. Pietro Chiesa.
Beautiful 28" wide and 6" deep chandelier with 2 parallel glass shields with floral motive etchings. The floral motive is a red thread in the design process for this light attributed to Pietro Chiesa. The designer has been very active in the 1940-1950 and designed many different versions of the same floral topic, wall-lights and flush mounts are probably the best known examples. All show the same intricate elements, glass shields with deep sandblasted floral incisions and brass work with realistic stems, leaves and petals. This is an outstanding example, very delicate and rare. The glass shows no cracks, nor chips around the rim. The original lacquered aluminum and brass parts we left untouched (just cleaned it gently). The brass shows a rich patina which also contributes to the overall original look. Dimensions are 27.95“ x 6.3" x 36.6“ (height )
