Large Kyoto Table Black Beech Wood, Italy 1974
Gianfranco Frattini for Knoll International, Italy, 1970–1979
Rare original Gianfranco Frattini Kyoto coffee table, Knoll Italy 1974
Dimensions are 44.5" x 44.5" x 13.78"
This is the original production from cabinet-maker Ghianda, which was made in small numbers only and is rarely available. The table is all about traditional wood working and therefore joint techniques from Japan, hence Kyoto. The black version is lacquered but the grain of the wood is still visible. The legs can be spaced at different widths and are also jointed together (sliding). However, the table is solid and weighs about 25kg. It can be used as is or with a glass top. The table shows light scratches and patina, no damages, is sturdy and structurally sound and ready to be used immediately.
