Unique cast iron ornamental plate or fireback plate by Jean Touret, France, 1950.

Nicely sized artisan 21″ wide cast iron ornamental relief by the artist Jean Touret (1916-2004)

He was famous for his works from his atelier Marolles in the remote area of France.

His works range from furniture to art pieces, mostly christian art for churches and privat homes.

This backplate for a fireplace or just serving as an ornamental cast iron plate depicts probably the four apocalyptical horsemen on one horse with spears and shields and a fleeing human in the background.

Very rare iron work, signed in the lower right corner.

Weighing approx. 15kg this handmade and unique piece has a black finish with some rusty parts. It was cleaned and shows no damages at all.

Dimensions are 21″ x 18″ x 3″.
