Alberto Rosselli Corner Sofa For Saporiti ‘Confidential’, Italy 1970

Sofa corner ensemble by Alberto Rosselli for Saporiti, “Confidential”, with an extraordinary original velvet upholstery, Italy, 1970.

Very good condition. It comes with the extra cushions visible in the pictures.

Large freestanding sofa for a corner designed by Italian architect and furniture designer Alberto Rosselli in 1972 for Saporiti Italia.

The original upholstery is certainly the star of this rare ensemble. It reminds a bit of the excentric textile designs by Jack Lenor Larsen.

It’s as inviting to sit in as it is a graphical eye-candy in any room. The original design approach of Rosselli regarding the interlocking functional connectors covered in fabric (cushions) is still visible but at the same time the fabric is dissolving in the materiality of the ensemble which is a quirky twist in appearance.

The elements are brought together by the puzzle-like cushions that connect them, providing an overall soft, warm and comfortable lounge environment.

Provenance: it derives from an estate in Rome.

Overall in very good condition with no damages to the fabric, nor the bases. The fabric shows use in some parts. It’s ready to use.

Dimensions 228 × 228 × 70 cm
